Road Trip: Day 2

Yes those are raindrops on the windshield. More rain threatened to delay our trip to Detroit Zoo yet again. Not wanting to miss the zoo entirely, we decided to find something else to do until the rain moved out. We headed for Canton, MI. On the way we had to pass through about 3 of these "tunnels". After going through each one, Cayden would exclaim excitedly, "that was so much fun!" Ahh, the wonder of youth. :)
We ended up at one of our favorite stores! Then CiCi's for lunch.

As we were driving through Canton, we noticed several giant, brightly painted bowling pins. We can only speculate that there was some sort of bowling tournament planned/taking place. Here's one of them (notice the sun is out!)

FINALLY!!

Cayden studies the map to make sure we won't miss anything

This is just about the coolest fish tank I've ever seen (yep, that's a real tank and those are real fish)

A HOP SIGN

This fountain was pretty. But, it was also the butt of some jokes

Need I tell you why?

And, along those same lines - this one is especially for Uncles TJ and Shaun. Rhino Butt!!

I won't bore you with way too many pictures of animals - we've all been to a zoo. I will say that Detroit Zoo is one of the prettiest zoos we've been to so far. It was like we were walking through a large park that just happened to have animals along the way.

The last picture I'll share from the zoo. Aww... ;)

On the way from the zoo to our hotel, we caught a glimpse of the Met Life blimp. The Buick Open (golf) was in Grand Blanc this weekend.

Beautiful.

We had dinner in Frakenmuth at the Bavarian Inn Resturant. Afterward Cayden and Jay went for a "swim" back at the hotel (sorry for the picture quality, the camera battery was just about dead)
That's the end of day two. It started out rocky, but ended up being a very nice day. Tomorrow it's supposed to rain - AGAIN. So, we think we'll do some shopping at the Birch Run Outlets (they are right across the street from our hotel) and go back to Frakenmuth to check out Bronner's (a large Christmas store) and some other shops. Tuesday and Wednesday the weather is finally supposed to be nice. Tuesday we may venture to Mackinac. The jury's still out on that. Wednesday we'll go to another zoo (the name escapes me right now) and then head home. Check in tomorrow for more of our adventures!
